The English Teacher Files

Notes from the Classroom Trenches

I have been teaching in the same district and in the same classroom since 2001. I have been a Master Teacher since 2006. I have a B.A. in English; an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction; a Tier I Administrative Credential; and I am a life-long learner of all things interesting.

I teach American Literature 11th grade, AP English Language 11th grade, and World Literature 10th grade. In other years I have taught Introduction to Literature 9th grade; World Literature Honors 10th grade; Creative Writing 12th grade; British Literature 12th grade; Contemporary Fiction 12th grade; CAHSEE Prep grades 10-12; King Arthur GATE Seminar.

I decided to write this blog because I give so much of my time and intellectual property away for free anyway. I thought, “why not just share with the whoever wants to read my advice?”  I have spent years advising new teachers and sharing my ideas with colleagues and now it is time to open up to a larger audience.

I hope you find some helpful tips on this blog.  Please write to me to let me know how everything works out for you in your classroom 🙂  Good luck. Happy reading.
